Hussein A. Aden is a Research Scientist Working for the National Museums of Kenya and as the Project Manager of Kipepeo ("butterfly") Project, an initiative run by the National Museums of Kenya that links conservation and development at the Arabuko Sokoke Forest Man and Biosphere reserve. The objective of the Butterfly Project is to help develop positive attitudes towards conservation of the natural heritage (forest) by creating conservation incentives that include income generating opportunity from forest butterflies. The forest-adjacent communities breed and export live butterflies all over the world. The butterfly farming has contributed immensely to forest conservation and supports community livelihood.

Hussein holds a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management (Wildlife Management) and an MSc in Environmental Science. He has over 15 years of experience in community development's sustainable natural resource utilization (e.g. wildlife enterprises, capacity building on heritage conservation, & management).
