Mission Statement: To protect and recover Salvadorian wildlife as populations that are viable in the long term (most especially butterflies), develop and implement technologies that will allow for their sustainable use, and contribute to the efforts required for obtaining knowledge that will allow El Salvador to know, appreciate, protect and use its natural biological resources.

Conservation Efforts: Bioproductores de El Salvador manages a nature reserve together with 2 neighbours (in total, just over 300 acres) next to El Salvador’s most important national park in terms of Biodiversity (the El Imposible National Park) in southwestern El Salvador, near the border with Guatemala.  With 9 full time wardens covering 24 hour 365 days-a-year custody, this area is probably the most intensely protected natural area in El Salvador.  Support provided to major national and international research efforts (inventories, life cycles, etc.) has lead to many new reports of plants and animals for this country, and the recovery, entrance and even breeding of several species locally considered as highly endangered and threatened has been an increasingly observed phenomenon in the private reserve that surrounds the farm.  Likewise, adequate plants have been established in certain, restricted areas of the reserve so that local colonies of butterflies of interest have become established, ensuring complete independence from the park – population, though of course not genetic wise.  Major efforts are currently being undertaken to study and replicate (at ground level) the ecology and annual cycle of canopy communities of butterflies (i.e.: in this case, butterflies that rarely come down to ground level)
