Marketing Opportunities
If you are interested in ordering DVD’s to be sold at your facility:
contact Tony Briant directly. He is at tbriant@montereymedia.com
or 800-424-2593
Tony will be able to help IABE members the following ways:
- So long as your
facility is willing to promote the film during the dvd release and hopefully
through the 2006 season by posting a medium size poster within their exhibit
it will be monterey media’s pleasure to supply each USA member a unique
product code and access to the web fundraising banner page.
- In turn, the
member needs to make folks aware of what they are doing and
“drive” customers to their site.
In
exchange for the placement of The Blue Butterfly poster and continued support
for the film (as the
facility is able), the following is how
monterey
media will assist in setting up this opportunity:
“
monterey
media has designed links for you to place on your website with an image, text
and whatever language you wish to include so that it is clear that a purchase of
the DVD here will provide funds that will benefit your Exhibit, Museum, Farm
etc. This has a “Buy” button for people to purchase the film with a Credit
Card at its suggested retail price of $24.95 plus shipping and handling and will
link directly to our fulfillment center. We will then remit directly to
your Exhibit, Museum, Farm etc. 50% of the $24.95 received. Reports and payments
will be sent quarterly.“
- With regards to
purchasing finished goods/DVDs for purposes of resell in their stores,
farms, etc. IABE members’ terms for purchasing the DVDs will be as
follows: 10 piece minimum order per Purchase Order, 50% off the suggested
retail price of $24.95, Member or IABE pays freight, we prefer payment via
credit card due to the volume of folks participating, however, if your order
is substantial (tbd) we can send a short “formality” credit form and you
may pay on Net 30 basis.
It has taken a few months to coordinate an exciting
opportunity for our organization and its members, but finally it has come
together.
On November 29, the following information went out in a press release:
monterey
media’s new theatrical distribution arm is gearing up for the
release of the radiant family adventure film The Blue Butterfly ( www.bluebutterflythemovie.com
). The movie stars Academy Award Winner William Hurt, Genie Award Winner Pascale
Bussieres and Marc Donato (“White Oleander”, “Pay It Forward”).
The national theatrical campaign will commence December 26th in
Washington
D.C.
monterey
media has
also aligned with a coalition of nationally known organizations including:
Children’s Cancer Research Fund, International Association of
Butterfly Exhibitions, KIDS FIRST!® Film and Video Festival,
Make A Wish Foundation® of
America
and the National Brain Tumor Foundation.
monterey
media and the producers of The Blue Butterfly recognize
the commitment of these outstanding organizations and hope to raise public
awareness of the vitally important services they provide. This alliance will
create awareness via multi-tiered national outreach and marketing campaigns.
At present,
monterey
’s
distribution
plans for the film incorporate a rolling marketing and promotional campaign
through Theatrical and Event showings from mid-November 2005-March 2006,
followed by the National DVD release in April or May 2006.
Their goal includes helping the partner foundations and organizations
achieve an outreach to help create a wider public awareness of the organizations
and if appropriate, offer ways in which they can help fundraising efforts by
utilizing The Blue Butterfly.
monterey media, inc wants our
members to know that they will literally be bringing millions of Consumer
Impressions directing people to the IABE website
where our member exhibition information is easily obtained. IABE will include on
their The Blue Butterfly page any information from our member facilities on
projects or promotions they are doing in conjunction with this campaign. Their
marketing and advertising campaigns, complemented by their association with IABE
and the other marketing partners, will generate incredible National awareness
for the film via Television, Radio, Print media and exhibitions.
It
is IABE’s hope that this will increase awareness of the member facilities,
appreciation of the wondrous beauty of the butterfly world and opportunities for
promotional projects. The
release of the DVD could be used with promotion of the opening of our seasonal
exhibit members. If any of your
facilities are able to show the movie, it would be another way to have an event
or generate attention to your organization.
Click on www.bluebutterflythemovie.com
for a full synopsis and a trailer. Be
sure to click on the “friends” section to see what organizations are being
recognized in this effort.
IABE has posted a page and link about the movie on the website, will work
with our members and their contacts in making this a successful
marketing/fundraising tool, will post information in the January and April
newsletters, work with the poster display campaign and future campaigns.
Some of the exciting opportunities for additional exposure to IABE and
our individual
USA
facilities is promotion of the DVD
release this spring. IABE’s logo will be place on the back of the
packaging sleeve. Accompanying the DVD release will be an extensive National
Marketing campaign in which IABE’s log will be placed on promotional posters,
sell sheets and other material where practical.
[Did I mention we desperately need marketing committee members?
If you want to assist with this project and other avenues for marketing
of our industry, please contact Mary Babcock ASAP!]
A possible
option
if a sufficient number of our members display the movie poster is to work with monterey
media, inc to include a generic coupon in the DVD which would provide the
public a discount towards the entrance fee at Member Butterfly Exhibits across
the country, provided the coupon would contain “The Blue Butterfly” logo and
that IABE would undertake the cost of printing and shipping the coupon to
monterey
’s
facility. Monterey would undertake
all costs of assembly with regard to insertion of the coupon into the DVD’s
and would be happy to assist with the art design of the coupon.
These DVD could be made available for your gift shops, used as
fundraising took, etc. IABE needs
your feedback if this is of interest and if so, what percentage or amount do you
want on the generic coupon? Please
send your comments and interest in participation to Mary Babcock by
Friday, January 6, 2005. From
your response, the board will decide at their annual meeting in January whether
to proceed with this mass marketing coupon project.
IABE
requests that members participate in this marketing partnership
by prominently displaying a poster as soon as possible and remaining on display
through September 2006.
monterey
will
pay all costs of creating and printing the poster and IABE will cover the cost
of mailing it to the various facilities willing to become involved. Contact
Michelle Glenn today to get a copy of your free poster to display to your
visitors.
We encourage members to get creative in working together
with local children’s and health care networks, theaters and the media to
promote the movie and create fundraisers and awareness of your exhibition, the
butterfly and insect world and your community. If there are ways we can be of
assistance, please contact us.
If anyone has thoughts or questions on how they would like to get
involved or develop a fundraiser, they should contact Michelle Glenn at
monterey
media
or Mary Babcock of IABE. Their
